HRS4R | UCLL
Vlaggen UCLL

At UCLL, we highly value the development and support of our researchers. Therefore, we have committed to the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R), an initiative recognized by the European Commission. The HRS4R strategy supports research institutions in implementing the principles of the Europese CharterCode of Conduct, also applying the principles of OTM-R (Open, Transparent & Merit-based Recruitment). The commitment to apply for this HRS4R- award has been taken in the context of the Ent-r-e-novators project to which the UCLL participates.

More information about HRS4R and its key components can be found here.

By embracing the HRS4R strategy, we demonstrate our commitment to creating a supportive work environment and improving the career opportunities of our researchers. This not only makes UCLL more attractive to current and future researchers but also contributes to the quality and impact of our research.

Linked to strategic objectives

The implementation of HRS4R is closely linked to UCLL’s strategic objectives. It supports our ambition to be a leading research institution that promotes innovation and excellence, focusing on strengthening our research infrastructure and promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing. It aligns with the policy plans of our Research & Expertise department, where workable work and well-being are among the priorities.

Based on our core values

Our core values - collaboration, inspiration, lifelong learning, appreciation, and trust - form the basis of everything we do. By integrating the HRS4R strategy, we reinforce these values and ensure an environment that promotes the growth and success of our researchers. This seamlessly aligns with our policy priorities, such as creating an inclusive and supportive work environment, promoting sustainable development, and stimulating societal impact through research and innovation.

Moving Minds

Our commitment to HRS4R also aligns with the philosophy of Moving Minds, which means we are constantly seeking new opportunities to push boundaries within and outside the university. Moving Minds are inspiring, innovative, and entrepreneurial professionals who, from an authentic personality and a broad, engaged view of the world and their profession, contribute to an inclusive, sustainable, and just society.

HRS4R

What's our approach?

HR Excellence in Research

Our goal was to be recognized by the European Commission as a research institute that not only endorses but also actively implements the HRS4R values. In June 2025, we submitted an updated dossier based on a thorough GAP analysis and an accompanying action plan to systematically meet these requirements.

We are proud to announce that in July 2025 we received this recognition along with the HR Excellence in Research award from the European Commission.

In this context, we are also pleased to share UCLL’s Open, Transparent and Merit-Based recruitment policy (OTM-R), together with the accompanying OMT-R checklist, highlighting our commitment to quality and fair recruitment practices.
