Course ECTS Short description
Learning for Life            During this course you will develop a critical and creative attitude concerning educational theories and practices: from differentiated and meta-cognitive approaches to learning and feedback strategies.
Global Education Networks and Agencies In this course we explore ten agencies: UN, UNESCO, OECD, UNICEF, UNHCR, WIPO, UNIDO, World Bank, IIEP, and African Union. You will research their missions, visions, priorities, functions, analyze their work in  reaching the SDGs, and argue their roles in global collaboration and innovation in the field of education. The course includes visits to the UNESCO headquarters, the IIEP, and the OECD in Paris.
Between Memory and Dialogue Living together in harmony and sustainable development can only happen through open dialogue among cultures, mutual respect and creativity. We will review how new forms of identities in multicultural and multi-ethnic modern societies can be built to combat prejudices and discrimination.
Learning for Global Citizenship This course aims to empower you to assume active roles to face and resolve global challenges and to become proactive contributors to a more peaceful, tolerant, inclusive and secure world. You will review local, national and global systems and structures, different levels of identity, different communities people belong to and the basics of ethically responsible behavior.
Personal Growth Appreciative Inquiry is a guideline for reaching your full potential as complete human beings. You will develop courage, wisdom and leadership qualities required to constructively contribute towards building a culture of peace.
UN Sustainable Development Goals You will gain sound insight in the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, the current global status and you will acquire the skills in critical and systemic thinking and in collaborative decision-making and problem-solving to take informed decisions and responsible actions for environmental integrity, economic viability, and a just and inclusive society for present and future generations.

elective programme: 10 ects

Choose courses of the elective programme to add 10 ECTS to the common programme. The courses of the elective package are courses of the Dutch Teacher Education programme, given in English. International students follow classes together with the Flemish students. Because of scheduling reasons, students can only choose courses out of one single elective package. So choose 10 ECTS out of one package. For courses with limited amount of students we will use the “first served, first come” principle. For courses of elective package 3, there is an approval procedure.
