Er zijn tal van mogelijkheden om een buitenlandse ervaring op te doen. Van contacten met buitenlandse studenten die op onze eigen campus studeren, internationale weken at home of in onze partnerhogescholen in het buitenland tot internationale wereldwijde stagemogelijkheden of een volledig semester op uitwisseling via het Erasmusprogramma. Jij kiest zelf wat best bij je past!
Outdoor Challenge Noorwegen
Een stap uit de comfortzone, voor persoonlijke groei
UCLL organiseerde voor het eerst een internationale Outdoor Challenge in Noorwegen: een expeditie die studenten uit verschillende landen samenbracht in een indrukwekkend berglandschap. Gedurende meerdere dagen trokken de deelnemers over de historische Kongevegen-route, waar ze niet alleen fysieke uitdagingen trotseerden, maar ook intensief werkten aan leiderschap, samenwerking en veerkracht. De internationale samenstelling van de teams zorgde voor extra lessen rond communicatie en culturele verschillen.
De combinatie van natuur, uitdaging en teamwork creëerde een omgeving waarin studenten hun grenzen verlegden en nieuwe vaardigheden ontwikkelden. Deze Outdoor Challenge is een voorbeeld van de manier waarop UCLL op een praktijkgerichte en innovatieve manier onderwijs vormgeeft.

The Future of Work
Taking part in the Erasmus+ BIP 'The Future of Work' at University of Applied Sciences UCLL was an incredibly enriching week. I had the opportunity to visit a local business, provide hands-on consulting advice, and collaborate on HRM with several students from various nationalities. It gave me a totally fresh perspective on the HR-field! Add the cultural highlights (like the guided tour of Hasselt and the visit to the Jenever museum) and the experience was just complete. If you are curious about Human Resources or want to discover a new culture, I highly recommend this program! Thank you once again for all your hard work in organising such a memorable week for us.

Ann-Sofie Hendrickx ging 5 maanden naar Parijs
Het is altijd al een droom van mij geweest om een periode in het buitenland te studeren. Dankzij het Erasmusprogramma van Hogeschool UCLL kon ik die droom waarmaken en mijn opleiding Human Resources Management gedurende vijf maanden verderzetten in de prachtige stad Parijs.
Tijdens mijn verblijf volgde ik verschillende HR-vakken aan een Franstalige hoger onderwijs instelling, waar ik kennismaakte met de Franse benadering op HR. Het vergelijken van deze aanpak met alles wat ik al in België had geleerd, bood mij nieuwe inzichten en droeg bij aan een bredere en meer genuanceerde kijk op HR.
Een extra uitdaging, waar ik bewust voor koos, was het volgen van mijn volledige Erasmusprogramma in het Frans. Dat vroeg soms wat aanpassing en stimuleerde me om uit mijn comfortzone te stappen. Door dagelijks in het Frans te studeren en te communiceren, kon ik mijn HRM-kennis verdiepen en tegelijkertijd meer zelfvertrouwen opbouwen in het gebruik van de taal. De combinatie van mijn passie voor HR en mijn liefde voor de Franse taal maakte deze ervaring voor mij bijzonder leerrijk en betekenisvol.
Naast het academische aspect, was het leven in Parijs ook op persoonlijk vlak enorm verrijkend. Ik leerde er mensen kennen van over de hele wereld, wat mijn blik op verschillende culturen, achtergronden en perspectieven sterk verruimde. Door te studeren en te leven in een multiculturele grootstad groeide ik in zelfstandigheid, flexibiliteit en openheid. Gaandeweg begon Parijs steeds meer aan te voelen als een tweede thuis.
Deze Erasmuservaring heeft mijn internationale mindset versterkt en mijn passie voor Human Resources Management verder aangewakkerd. Ik kijk met veel dankbaarheid terug op deze periode, die een blijvende impact zal hebben op zowel mijn verdere studies als mijn professionele toekomst.
International Week Madrid
We had the chance to take part in a unique and enriching program organized by Saint Charles College Madrid. We visited inspiring workplaces such as Google Madrid, where we had the opportunity to hear Carmen’s personal career story and learn how her journey at Google has been shaped by the company’s culture and values. At La Nave, we explored a vibrant hub of innovation and entrepreneurship, gaining insight into how collaboration drives change and opportunity. We also welcomed a guest speaker from Page Personnel, who shared practical advice on applying for jobs after graduation, from writing a standout CV to preparing for interviews. These sessions helped us better understand the current job market and how to navigate it with confidence. This experience has given us not only professional insights, but also lasting memories and a deeper connection to the world beyond the classroom.

BIP @ UCLL
My week at UCLL, participating in the Erasmus+ BIP on HRM, was an incredibly valuable experience. I had the opportunity to visit a local company, collaborate with 12 other students (from 7 other countries!) on an HRM project, and provide consulting advice that gave me a fresh perspective on the field. Additionally, the cultural experiences, including a tour of the Jenever (gin) museum and a guided city tour of Hasselt, made the program even more enjoyable.
If you’re interested in HRM or looking to explore a different culture, this program is definitely a perfect blend of both.

Cheers to an unforgettable week in Prague: Diversity, Culture, and Beers!
We had the opportunity to join the BIP in Prague, and what a week it was! From thought-provoking lectures to hands-on experiences, it was an adventure we’ll never forget.
The week was centered around Diversity Management in brewing companies. We explored how organizations tackle inclusion and the challenges they’re still facing. It was inspiring to dive into these topics with peers and lecturers from different cultural backgrounds—it really opened our eyes to new perspectives.
But it wasn’t all about academics! We got to fully experience Prague’s famous beer culture, with two incredible brewery visits. The tour of the historic Staropramen Brewery was a definite highlight - learning about the brewing process and the company’s heritage was fascinating. And let’s not forget the laser tag activity! It was a great way to bond while having a blast.
The whole week was well-organized thanks to lecturers of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and the Staropramen company partners. They guided us throughout the week and pushed us to dig deeper when needed.
Mixing learning, cultural immersion, and some good old fun made this BIP an unforgettable experience. We loved exchanging ideas and gaining new perspectives — we’re already looking forward to the next one!

The experience at Diepenbeek campus was amazing! It’s a modern and vibrant place, with excellent resources for students and an international environment that fosters collaboration. Moreover, Hasselt, the nearby city, impressed me with its friendly atmosphere, its blend of tradition and innovation, and its strong bicycle culture.
Beyond academics, this program gave me the chance to meet incredible people, exchange ideas, and create unforgettable memories. International networking is truly a valuable experience!
